I think emergency only when you have ketons. When its high from wrong insulin dose, take correction and see how it goesI'm surprised no one else has said this, but at those levels you should be going to the emergency room, and someone else should be driving you.
To put it in perspective, when I was first diagnosed I was admitted into the emergency room with a blood glucose of around 500 mg/dl (~28mmol/l). I was seen before a kid with a broken arm, and a man with a severed ear lobe.
Hope youre feeling better soon. Not a nice feeling when hitting that high. Give it some time to come down, drink a LOT of water and test for ketones if still staying highHi all, was looking for help and came across this forum hope someone can help..
I'm pretty recently diagnosed type 1 diabetic but it's been about a year plus and still high blood sugar anyway I've felt rubbish & thought it was low (hypo) but when I did a blood sugar reading it came up as 32.8! I've only been that high & over it once or twice but ages ago..
Anyway I'm very anxious and I took 10 of apidra but I'm only down to 30....& I took that over half an hour ago.
Any help would be appreciated so I can reduce my blood sugar it's scarey & I'm not used to any of this I feel so powerless.
Thx
Beth
I understand what you're saying and for the most part I agree with you. I just feel it's best to err on the side of caution in these situations.@torq She hasn't been back on so difficult to tell her to go to a and e. Back in the day I taught a class with blood sugars of 25 correcting and drinking water. No one had ever told me to test for ketones or what they were but I didn't go to a and e. Just got the sugars down me self.
When you were first diagnosed you would have been running at those high levels for a couple of days. Saintly 1 might have just been hours?
My next step would be to phone the NHS phone line and go from there.
