High blood sugar levels when starting on Ramipril.

I am a type one insulin-dependent diabetic. And was recently put on Ramipril Titration Pack for high blood pressure due to proteins leaking from my kidneys, i starting on 2.5mg for the first 10 days with no apparent problem. Then raised to the second highest dose of 5 mg on about the fourth day on this higher amount I started to notice raised levels of blood sugar after injecting. I am now taking about twice my normal amount of insulin to compensate for this and was wondering whether anybody has had similar problems to this.

Hi Mark,

Injecting twice the amount doesn't seem right given that you were already taking the drug and have only increased it by 2.5mg, I would go back to your Dr's and mention this and see if they can prescribe an alternative drug.

Thanks for your reply. Have spoken with Dr told me to go back on lower dose to see what happens.
