Hi all,

Looking for some advice I am type 2 . Had a reading of 17.7 at lunchtime . Only had a bowl of branflakes at 11am . What Is the best way to reduce blood sugers quickly ?

I'm a bit confused, your profile says Type 1 on insulin? If you are Type 2, it sounds like the bowl of cereal has caused it. Probably best avoided, drink plenty of water as that sometimes helps.
Could you clarify your type and what medication you're on?

Hi, same question had reading 5.8 this morning, had shredded wheat and lady grey tea, mid morning 3 oat cakes and tea, lunch reading 9.5, had granary cob with egg and bottle of water with dash of juice, took reading before dinner 18.3 am type 2 on metaformin and insulin. any advice please .

Short answer is that you are eating a lot of carbohydrate, the shredded wheat, the granary bread and quite often the oatcakes, will all affect your blood sugar levels.
I'm not sure if you've had the information about carbohydrate that is usually given to newbies, but will tag @daisy just in case, she has some great info to help.

That's what carbohydrates do to your sugar levels. Avoid them the best advice. If it happens though, drink plenty of water and exercise or go for a long, fast paced walk

thanks for that

Carbs will do it every time.Best to cut out or drastically reduce bread, rice, pasta, and potato.Biscuits, pastry, pies basically flour based stuff etc also a no no for most type 2.Does not matter if they are wholewheat varieties they will turn to glucose, just not as fast as regular carbs.
Try bacon and eggs instead or yoghurt and berries.
Have a look at the LCHF info and the what have you eaten today threads.

If you are concerned excersise will help right away.

On the plus side you have a meter and are testing, half the battle.
