Hi,
I would please like some help or any information that could put my mind at ease regarding my daughters blood sugar readings. Over the last week and a half she has been struggling to maintain a steady blood sugar reading. She has had a cold and I'm just wondering if this could be contributing to abnormally high readings. She wears the libra 2 sensor and it is telling her that her blood sugar is 28. When she injects her insulin it doesn't seem to be as affective, or she is having to take larger amounts of insulin just to get it down to about 7.4. We are finding this very odd and a little worrying. I would be grateful of any feedback or information that could possibly help explain what the probable cause of this could be. Thank you.

Yes illness (including colds) can raise blood sugar, and many people find that the higher they are the more insulin resistant they become so you may well need more insulin per mmol/l than you would need at lower levels

Also note at high levels the Libre can be quite inaccurate so you really really need to double check with a blood test

Hi @lee1640 and welcome to the forums

Her diabetic team should have given her sick day rules to calculate insulin doses when ill. Does she have a way to test for ketones?

(ps and is she an adult or a child?)
