Type 1 High BS after hypo

I feel I’m on a hamster wheel the last few weeks - hypos then really high, then correction. I have reduced my insulin and
although my Dexcom says I’m 80% within target the high BS makes me feel really fed-up. Anyone else feel down when blood sugars are high?
Yup, overshoots after hypos are all too common I'm afraid, and then of course you can end up over correcting for the overshoot and end up in a vicious circle of hypos and hypers.

Yes, I hate high bgs almost as much as I hate low ones. (And I really hate hypos)

I had same problem for years , low blood sugar gorge myself on chocolate ( not helped that when I’m hypo I’m starving ) , then I started using the 15 / 15/15 rule , it took a fair bit of patience and discipline at first but now I’ve got the patience , discipline sorted it works well for me , basically it’s 15 g of fast acting carb , ( I take a mini can of diet which is exactly 15 g ) then wait 15 mins then 15 grams of longer acting carbs ( banana digestive biscuit etc ) the discipline / patience for me was to stop the gorging of sweet stuff , I also now have my Libre low sugar alarm set at 4.5 , so I take some “ quick“ carbs if it goes off

I never knew about the third digit 15 in this rule, so I always ate 15g of sugar and waited 15 minutes. I need to try to eat another 15 grams of slow carbohydrates. But 15 minutes when you're shaking from hypo is terrible, isn't it :hilarious: ?

very true but if you find it difficult use take the long acting carbs with the short , I think the secret is not to pack too much in to stop your blood going too high it will cure the hypo use not as fast as your body would like us ths where the discipline comes in but the early warning alarm is handy too.

GeordieGirl, it will get easier with time, things will settle down and you will feel that you have a handle on this and control of it. Stay strong and positive, you will get there. "Patience and Perseverance", one of my favorite quotes to myself.

Thanks for that tip Ushthetaff, I will most definitely be "trying" to apply that the next time I have a hypo.

Its that 15 minute that you have to wait that I am going to have to wait, but I am going to give it a go.
