My 86 year old old husband who is type 2 diabetic on sitagliptin he recently spent time in hospital with a chest infection on2 antibiotics after a few days out of hospital GP found chest infection wasn’t completely gone so another course of antibiotics he always had good control of diabetes now finds it’s not going below 11.6 sometimes 10 could the antibiotics have caused it also now taking multivitamins could they cause a rise in blood sugar thank you for any answers

Infections will usually make your blood glucose go up all by themselves, antibiotics or not.

With chest infections, often steroids like prednisone are given as well, and those will definitely raise BG.

Is he going much higher than the number you quoted or mostly not going above lower teens?

stress, illness, or changes in diet or activity level, could be contributing to the increase :angelic: I would recommend that you talk to your doctor
