Hi all
I got tested for c peptide gad antibodies and thyroid function. Today dsn told me I had high insulin production in c peptide test so I’m likely not Lada/type 1. But my gad results not back for another month. So my question is can you have high insulin production (suggestive of insulin resistance) and gad antibodies, or not? Thanks in advance.

My C-pep result (7.52) made the whole hospital team say I was definitely T2 and then a week or so later when my antibody results came back, all 3 were positive, so definitely LADA/T1 according to the consultant I saw privately.

Local nurse/hospital would not record me as T1 and NHS wait for a consultant appointment was 12 months+, hence going private. The consultant's views, including early use of Libre to keep a close eye on spikes/pancreas stress and inevitable decline into insulin being required, have all been actioned. I'd say trust nothing or no-one until the science and results all come back.

You'll get there in the end. Hoping you are antibody negative though :)

In my case, a secondary insulin response called an overshoot, caused by high spikes from carbs, which in turn caused hypoglycaemia and hyperinsulinimia. Hyperinsulinimia is one of the main causes of T2 diabetes. Due to insulin resistance.
high circulating insulin levels can cause weight gain and other metabolic conditions.

Thank you. Sounds like you’ve head quite the rollercoaster with your diagnosis! I hope things are going well for you now.

I hope I don’t have the antibodies too but in a way I guess it would explain why my bm remains all over the place despite losing weight and improving my diet significantly. But it’s just wait and see at the moment I guess ‍♀️
