High Reading

Can anyone offer advice? After having lost my wife 6 months ago my readings have been slowly rising. My last Hba1c was 92 (10.6), about 6 weeks ago. I only normally test my fasting reading which is currently averaging 14.5 mmol/L. However I have just taken another reading which was about 2 hours after eating and my meter read "over 33.3, retest" which I did and received the same result. I started a course of steroids last week for suspected Polymyalgia Rheumatics, and I believe that steroids can increase blood glucose. As this reading is very high does anyone think I should ignore it or not. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear of your loss. With a reading that high I think you should seek medical advice as soon as possible.

Hi @maxgarry , I'm really sorry you've lost your wife, things must be hard enough without your health worries.
Your readings are very high and may or may not be due to the steroids but you really need to seek advice from a medic to get to the bottom of things and perhaps get some reassurance.

Sorry for your loss @maxgarry

No, you shouldn't ignore that reading. Phone 111 and get some advice. It may very well be the steroids causing this and you may need some extra medication to help.

Take care of yourself and give them a ring now. X
