why can't everyone get on........
ok -- 9am bolus is finished , last bolus about 3 hours ago , definitely bolus for the food - 2u per 10CHO sounds ok and as to correction i myself would add 1 or 2 units as it is still not night and we are all about.Just about to eat, going for cheese and crackers. Shall I bolus again or not? Its coming up to 3 hours after last bolus. Also should I correct again and what ratio should I use for food? Im thinking 2:10g for food and no correction until main meal later. Any advice appreciated.
I know and I appreciate your advice. If my levels go over 15 again I will but I would much rather wait until Monday to speak to my nurse who knows me so well. 111 will tell me to go to a&e which with three kids it's not ideal unless I feel like death. The problem is we are not medical proffessionals and tbh I really think you need to phone 111 and get proper advice. It could be unsafe to advise and we wouldn't want to see you ill and suffering.x
Tummy problems could be an overload of Insulin ?? unsure though, please get the right help.

Im not being a martyr. Thank you again.

I tend to agree on the A&E bit -- i am not sure how much help there would be there from an endocrinology point of view on a saturday or sunday
I promise I am not being cheeky but in my opinion @lcarter is best doing it herself with us here all day and evening and tomorrow to support and have somebody to talk toI would agree with you there, but what else at the weekend, especially with 3 children at home to look after too ?
Best wishes RRB
If I keep on virtually low carbs all through to bedtime is this like a basal test?!
I have got a new vial I did that yesterday@lcarter have you tried a different batch of insulin? I suspect from reading your posts so far that perhaps your Lantus may be causing the problem. I know you have checked the pen and needles so perhaps a different batch of Lantus worth a try?
Yes I get confused as my dsn told me to eat a carb free meal for my basals. No it isn't unfortunately, a fasting basal test should be just that, no food whatsoever and only drink water, read the link that was posted earlier on basal fasting checks.

111 and A&E will not get her BG's lower in the next 36 hours
No a totally different batch number. I've marked them so I know which ones I have tried! Is it the same batch as the previous one though?

I do listen to you, and read the links, honest you aren't wasting your breath.
I have that book on my kindle. I shall give it a look!A good book to buy on type 1 diabetes management is Think like a Pancreas by Gary Scheiner, it really is a good read and a book you can return to time and time again, it comes highly recommended on the forum. In the book Gary says a fasting basal check should be just that, no food and only water, he says as much in the following article on basal testing on pumps, but does say that diet beverages are OK too:

overall the ship appears to be steady.....................Update on levels: 12.3
I am pretty pleased with them. Plus I took bolus for crackers & a unit to correct so hopefully will see that showing in my next test.overall the ship appears to be steady.....................
