High sugar levels AGAIN feeling upset :(

Just about to eat, going for cheese and crackers. Shall I bolus again or not? Its coming up to 3 hours after last bolus. Also should I correct again and what ratio should I use for food? Im thinking 2:10g for food and no correction until main meal later. Any advice appreciated.
ok -- 9am bolus is finished , last bolus about 3 hours ago , definitely bolus for the food - 2u per 10CHO sounds ok and as to correction i myself would add 1 or 2 units as it is still not night and we are all about.

@anna29 is definitely right - you do need to ring your DSN on monday first thing and get seen.

The problem is we are not medical proffessionals and tbh I really think you need to phone 111 and get proper advice. It could be unsafe to advise and we wouldn't want to see you ill and suffering.x
Tummy problems could be an overload of Insulin ?? unsure though, please get the right help.
I know and I appreciate your advice. If my levels go over 15 again I will but I would much rather wait until Monday to speak to my nurse who knows me so well. 111 will tell me to go to a&e which with three kids it's not ideal unless I feel like death.

Im not being a martyr. Thank you again.

I know, just a little concerned about your well being.

Take good care RRB x

I also agree with RRB and getting medical advice is really important.

over the 42 years I have been a Type 1 i have had occasion where i have done a lot of reading and research and embarked on my path on my own.
this was the case with multiple daily injections and carb counting as it was originally started in Germany in 1997 and nobody in the NHS was offering it or had even barely heard of it.
I am certainly not a rebel and I am not advocating this for you but in the immediate short term until you can speak to your DSN on monday or until you decide to ring 111 for advice you seem to at least be heading in the right direction today.

I tend to agree on the A&E bit -- i am not sure how much help there would be there from an endocrinology point of view on a saturday or sunday

if this is any help my Endo thinks I run too "close to the wind " as he calls it -- he is not a huge fan of my HbA1c's
below 43 ( 6.0 old money)

@lcarter have you tried a different batch of insulin? I suspect from reading your posts so far that perhaps your Lantus may be causing the problem. I know you have checked the pen and needles so perhaps a different batch of Lantus worth a try?

I would agree with you there, but what else at the weekend, especially with 3 children at home to look after too ? :wideyed:

Best wishes RRB

I promise I am not being cheeky but in my opinion @lcarter is best doing it herself with us here all day and evening and tomorrow to support and have somebody to talk to
111 and A&E will not get her BG's lower in the next 36 hours

If I keep on virtually low carbs all through to bedtime is this like a basal test?!

No it isn't unfortunately, a fasting basal test should be just that, no food whatsoever and only drink water, read the link that was posted earlier on basal fasting checks.

Yes I get confused as my dsn told me to eat a carb free meal for my basals.

I do listen to you, and read the links, honest you aren't wasting your breath. :)

Ok so.

Have spoke to 111 and they are satisfied that I am doing everything right. They are going to get a doctor to call me back though just to ask a few more questions.

Thanks all again will keep updating you.

A good book to buy on type 1 diabetes management is Think like a Pancreas by Gary Scheiner, it really is a good read and a book you can return to time and time again, it comes highly recommended on the forum. In the book Gary says a fasting basal check should be just that, no food and only water, he says as much in the following article on basal testing on pumps, but does say that diet beverages are OK too:

has your stomach settled down a bit ??
I am pretty pleased with them. Plus I took bolus for crackers & a unit to correct so hopefully will see that showing in my next test.

Stomach is settling slowly...
