Was this reading from a meter or CGM ?Husband recently went back to low carb after slipping a bit the last few months. Now his morning BG is in the 9s - unheard of! Any idea what might cause this?
He's always had this high reading in the morning but never this high Mark. We've had some stress lately over a son and that might not be helping. TY!Hi is this 9mmol/l as in glucose meter ?
fasting readings for me are higher burt there is a reason due to liver releasing glucose to kick start your body, some of mine can be in 7's then level out later in day. If that concerned ask Dr or D nurse and yes colds etc can also cause this so can getting too stressed over it, even weather can cause changes
good luck
Stress does it for me, so much so I refused to know what my hba1c was as I knew the past 6 months had been hell resulting in my terrible readings. On track now but stress does not help xxHe's always had this high reading in the morning but never this high Mark. We've had some stress lately over a son and that might not be helping. TY!

Get a blood test for kidney health. He may have developed Ckd. Which would make him feel tired. High cortisol will raise bs. Quality sleep is essential. It could be his liver putting out glucose as he's now low carb and maybe not fat adapted. Don't combine carbs and high fat tho. Drop the carbs as much as poss. Thanks for fast reply xx - No meds, diet only. On his meter, He washed hands etc and redid it and it was 9.5. Usually high 7s in the mornings. He's cracking up hereHe is very tired just now but he's 79. On other meds but nothing new. Might be a cold or bug cooking.
