I'm still new to this (T2). 5 weeks in. But I was getting some consistency - daily average stable at around 6.3, within a tight range of 5.2 to 7.1.
Today suddenly my BGL was careering around all over the place.
I decided to risk a wholemeal wrap with cheese and salad for my lunch. Experiment tried and failed: post lunch BGL shot up to 9.5, close to my diagnosis level.
By pre-dinner I was back to 5.7. Then a BBQ, lots of meat, beans, salad, no carbs, glass of red x2, fruit and cream for afters.
Post dinner read 4.2. Lowest since diagnosis.
Left dazed and confused.
Mostly left scared at how many times pre diagnosis my BGL would have been that high without me knowing and what damage it may have done already.
Just when you think you are in control, the T2 reminds you you're not.

The two glasses of red may have been the reason for the 4.2, your liver can’t multitask so deals with the alcohol before anything else! However when you get an unexpected result high or low, it’s always worth doing a second test straight away in case of a dodgy test strip.

Thanks - I did that. The 2nd reading was 4.3 so your first answer was probably the right one.
Allowing myself a Saturday night drop of the red stuff.

Hi I have a small glass of red wine most nights and impact I find tends more to be on my fbg result rather than post meal. I’ve kept drinking limited amounts of alcohol as part of my low carb eating but these days try mainly to stick to small amounts of red wine as it seems to be beneficial for fbg!
Low results more likely to be linked to your low carb eating. You’re doing really well very quickly and going in right direction. Good learning too to see results from introducing higher carb products like the wrap!
