Hi can someone please give me some advice, if I sit or lie down for a long while, I am finding it very difficult to walk for a while. The stiffness and pain is right hip, leg and foot. I have been to gp and my diabetics team who have put me on amotrypitalibe which helped in beginning but not anymore and all they are telling me is to up the dose. I really do not want to become reliant on this medication has anyone got any advise PLEASE xxx

Hi there @Sandra33
perhaps you could tell us a bit more about you :)

how long type 1 ? any other issues ? is the pain dissipating after you get up and walk a bit ?
has it been prescribed to combat neuropathy ?
are you getting pain / discomfort in your right toes ?

sorry for all the q's but in order to find out if any members on the forum can help through their experience , having a more complete picture is helpful.

and ........... welcome to the forum !!!!!!!!

hi @Sandra33 - have you been seen by a neurologist? Sounds like they are treating you for neuropathy, but it could be something else like a trapped nerve if it's asymmetric.

I have similar problems but all in my left side...shoulder, groin and knee. No pain meds or anti inflammatories seem to help. Heat packs and dencorub help me the most. I am having physio to help with some of the pain but they are pretty sure it is nerve related somehow and I'm just waiting on the neurology appointment.

Hi and welcome!

Are you on statins? I know that they sometimes have long term side effects of muscle and nerve pain, but I am afraid I have no idea whether the pain is usually symmetrical or asymmetrical.
