I've never tried the Lidl rolls. I actually don't like brown bread or Wholegrain bread of any description but I have no other option now. I'm just going to have to get used to it. I don't eat a lot of bread in general because I also have Sjögren's Syndrome which makes my mouth and trachea very dry and my oesophagus has difficulty pushing dry foods like bread down and I choke, so I'm not a fan of bread...but sometimes you just want a wee slice of toast! I settled for a Nimble Wholegrain loaf. So far so good. I've discovered that I don't mind it toasted (but would boak if I had to have a sandwich) and with a wee poached egg on top it's actually quite nice. You live and learn as they say.
Hi
@Meg Hill & welcome to the forum,
That’s a very old post of mine you’ve quoted and a lot has changed for me since I posted that post. I was on Gliclizide at that time and eating around 80-100g carb a day so could fit those breads with their amount of carbs into my lifestyle. Since then I’ve dropped all meds and eat less than 20g carb a day so no longer eat any shop bought bread of any description.
I buy low carb bread on line now from various online stores that has about 1g carb per slice as anything else now would raise my BG too much. It’s more expensive as it’s not a commercial product but it certainly hits the spot for like you say “you just want a wee slice of toast”

which is mainly what I use it for.
Glad you’ve found a bread you can enjoy, have you tested your BG when you eat it to see how it affects your BG?

I haven’t tried a supermarket bread for about 6 years but I think even the nimble would now push my BG up too far for my liking. I know for a few months over Christmas & New Year I was quite poorly with another condition and was on a prescribed very low fibre diet and a tried a bit of milk roll bread which is tiny and it put me into near double figures 2 hours later.
If you like white bread and want to try the low carb bread I think one of the sites does a white loaf & white rolls, it’s either The Low Carb Food Co, or srslylowcarb - if you google those you’ll find the website easily enough, srslylowcarb does some excellent bagels which are very light and easily chewed and are delicious
Like I say they cost a lot more than supermarket breads and there’s postage but I usually do a bulk order and freeze them
Once again welcome to the forum
