How am I doing?

So Jan 2017 I was diagnosed with type 2 with hba1c of 94. I went straight on to metformin 2 x twice a day. 6 months later I had got it down to 62 which I was very happy about 6 months later and over Xmas it had gone up to 68 and after discussion I then started on an addition of 1 x linagliptin a day. 3 months later I am now on 59. The nurse said this was okay over the phone and will check again in 3 months as she wants it lower. I don't want to go on more tablets but was wondering what everyone else thought? Am I doing okay?

You're headed in the right direction, but still a bit high. Agree with Jo_the_boat here; if you haven't tried changing your diet, (to lower carbs) it could be well-worth a try. Would lower your HbA1c and keep you from taking more meds. (Maybe even reduce them or stop them completely.). Good luck!

I am trying to lower my carb intake but nothing hard and fast. I have stopped drinking juice now and just have water most of the time. I know I can do better and now it's warming up salads all the way. I struggled over the winter months as craved stodgy food, my wife is pregnant and just wants chips with everything at the minute. Lunch times I am still having ham buttie on seaded bread, what can I have instead?
