Another current thread started my curious mind working.

How did you find this forum? Did you search the internet, talk to a fried, or something else.

If you fall into the "Another way" category, please spill the beans.

It could be fun to complete a poll and see what we all learn. :)

A locum doctor (since departed) at the surgery wrote on a piece of paper the name Dr John Briffa, and underneath added, "just a suggestion!"
I looked up Dr B's blog and followed a link to here. The rest is history. I keep the piece of paper as a reminder of a turning point in my life.

My endocrinologist along with my then dietician suggested it to me.

Good job I wasn't diagnosed with diabetes!!!!

How did you find the forum? A group of thirty people who all attended the same medical centre, and who all had diabetes of varying kinds and degrees, were given iPads to see if this would assist them to look after themselves in a more informed way. There were various apps installed already by the researchers from the Uni, and I eventually looked in on this one. Best thing I've ever done. After wading through publications on my own ,to find something I can possibly apply to my own condition, it is like a lovely glass of refreshing spring water. Thanks.

I took a wrong turn at the traffic lights, but it turned out ok.

Google here too. I do wonder sometimes if people come here after their GP or DN recommends diabetes.co.uk when they meant to say diabetes.org.uk ...

My friend Google after a bit of faffing around on other similar sites. Practice diabetic nurse did mention a UK diabetes site, but I don't remember which!

Having used search engines since the year dot I wouldn't have considered using that abomination Facebook even if you'd paid me. :banghead::bag:

Google for me.

The first thread I read was one of those that developed into a very heated debate about LCHF. I could not understand why anyone would want to eat so much fat. We live and learn.

I'm a techie so my first response to any problem where I need information is to Google for a forum.

I'm now wondering how long it took me after diagnosis to find this forum.
I've looked at my personal details but can't find any "member since" and the history of my posts doesn't go right back to the beginning.
I don't think I was a Facebook user at the time, though.
I use Facebook to keep in touch with Family and friends, not as a major information source.
I find it too hard to get information out of the "stream of conciousness" format of Facebook and Twitter.
I like nice hierarchical organisation of data which can be searched through logically.
As I said, techie.
