Don't put the pill on the table where your plate will rest put it in the food you are about to eat if it is the standard pill not SR you can crush it. Also a freind of mine used to take his metformin a few minutes before eating you do not have to take it after eating.
I kept my metformin by the kettle which I saw regularly, so I was far more likely to remember to take it especially out of term time when I ate when I felt like eating, not when the timetable dictated.
I just wanted to thank you again, @jonathan183 . I've been doing this since you've posted and haven't forgotten to take my metformin with my first meal a single time!
Apparently, the moment of considering my dose, tinking about the food I'll have is enough to make me think of the metformin (which now lives in my pen case) as well, and the alarm serves to remind me at the right time!
I know you’ve already had many replies to this but I think you mentioned you had cats and I started giving my greediest boy a cat treat at the same time my meds are due and now like clockwork every day at that time he pesters me for the treat, which reminds me to take my meds

That's genius!
At least for medication you need to take at the same time every day.
My issue has resolved itself. For a while, I used Jonathan's tip of setting the timer after injecting for the meal, and then I got so used of the routine of taking the tablet with my first meal that I don't forget anymore. Doesn't work when I'm out and about, but I'm ok with forgetting to take it every once in a while.
