How Do You Know When You're Hungry?

I take Metformin and I eat carbs with most meals and never, well rarely ever, get hungry the only time It might happen is if I get tied up doing something so that I miss my lunch which I usually eat between 12 and 1 but occasionally I will be concentrating on a particular task or even sitting at the computer and get absorbed reading something and then suddenly realise that Ive not eaten.

I do occasionally snack when I am bored but thats not hunger is it, its just eating for eatings sake, which is why I like to keep busy

Since going low carb i only really experience real hunger, where as when i was eating high carb alot of my cravings made me think i was hungry, but in answer to the question when i'm hungry my stomach groans, i start to feel abit queasy/nauseas and i'm hungry for anything. I tend to be hungry first thing in the morning, then every 4 hours in the day (unless i've eaten a high protein/large meal then i can go longer)

I am on slow release metformin. They have definately affected how I feel hungry but in a odifferent. I often get a hollow feeling in my stomache which feels like hunger but I know it cant be as I have eaten a full meal within the last cople of hours. I juist try to ignore it and carry on with my normal eating pattern.

I have not felt hungry for a very long time (many, many years) and it really did not bother me. In the past 5 months my DSN and GP have been nagging me to eat. I have anaemia and apparently they are concerned about malnutrition. But my view is that I am overweight and not hungry. It is very, very difficult to eat when you are not hungry.
