hey there. Looking for a little guidance. 5 weeks T2, not on meds. I had a 52 HbA1c.
I think I’m doing ok on the low carb. I’ve lost 12 Ibs so far and I feel so much better but I would be interested to here if I’m going in the right direction. I won’t get my next HbA1c test until August you see.

Here’s a typical example
Waking - mid 7s
2 hr after breakfast mid 5s
2 hr after lunch mid 5s
Before dinner mid/late 5s
2 hr after dinner mid 6s

Thanks

Your weight loss and blood sugar numbers look very promising to me. Even 11 months from diagnosis I test between 4-7 times per day. I enter my readings into the app MySugr which provides an estimated HbA1c which I have found fairly accurate, compared to my lab test results. It keeps me on my toes and inspires me to keep up the good work seeing a constant estimate.
Just one question why do you only test after lunch not before?

Hey there. I eat breakfast late around 9.30 and lunch around 12 so seem a waste of a stick and I have the same oats every day
Ah ok, so your 2 hour post b’fast is just before lunch, that makes sense :)

Hi - you are at a similar stage to me (I’m 5 weeks in as well). Your numbers are quite similar as well.
If you’ve lost 12lbs in 5 weeks then you are absolutely going in right direction. Well done.
Numbers look alright as well - not unusual to be a bit high first thing as your liver tells your body to wake up with a little sugar shot.
There are ways to read around that but I prefer to accept that it happens and focus on the rest of the day.

The numbers are looking good, so you're obviously doing the right thing, well done. They should indicate a good HbA1c in August so long as you keep up the good work. It could be that this new regime becomes more permanent. If you're tempted to increase carbs again, keep checking your numbers.

I have an iPhone and iPad , so I just typed MySugr into the App Store search. I have the free version on both devices and they sync automatically, so I only ever have to enter a reading on one device and it pops up on the other :)

The place is so good fir info/chat. I feel so different to 5 weeks ago where the symptoms that led me to get tested were awful- shortness of breath after very little walking, sore hips and muscles unbelievable tiredness. In 5 weeks I’ve none of these symptoms. I feel like I’ve allowed my body to breath again by cutting carbs and doing exercise. This is defo my lifestyle now, I can’t cheat! And while the doc told me not to prick my finger I’m flying in the face of all his training and experience and Doing it my way

Great work, keep it up!

Your symptoms sound the same as I experienced, and much the same results from cutting the carbs. Neat thing is because simple exercise like walking gets easier, there's more incentive to do it.. especially in this weather :)
