Are you on insulin or what meds.
Drink lots of water...
24 is very high prob caused by steroids.. Were you warned this could happen?

I'm not on insulin I'm taking 2 metophage ( glucophage) 500 a day I wasn't warned I just pick up from reading up about infection myself but if I was to go to go right now he would prob say oh sure of course its high the steroids would do that am drinking plenty water just a little to worried i mite keel over (lol)

Hows your levels this morning?

Is the nebuliser steroid going to be ongoing? You need to speak to perhaps a walk in centre or GP about this as levels in 20's isn't good and if geeling like keeling over then you needs NHS help.

GPs and consultants should try all other treatment before steroids with diabetics...and certainly advise them what to do when bloods raise.

You need to speak to the person that prescribed the steroid nebuliser really..

Levels were 12 and15 and now 18 been like this throughout the day havnt eaten much and coughing mad I'm due back fri to gp if he doesn't take me serious this time I'm going to change him as I feel he never listens to me and when I come out from the visit I do be kicking myself for not asking more questions

Were Your levels lower before the nebuliser steroid?

I only know a consultant I work for offered me steroid injection as a veey last resort for shoulder pain...and a neigbour that due to cancer treatment also had steroid injections and as soon as steroid injections were given he was given insulin. When he came off the steroids the insulin was stopped. He had a while off steroids and insulin but it became necessary for more steroid injections and again he was immediately put back on to insulin. This psrson I mention is probably an extreme case as he has been very ill. I do know that the consultant I work for though was very very wary of giving me a steroid shot because of the reaction it would have with my blood glucose control....

Do ask whether you need more diabetic medicine to help with blood levels for steroid though..do keep drinking water.

I so hope you are feeling better soon.

I am currently taking steroids by nasal spray for a sinus problem and my bg levels are higher than I would like - say in the 7 to 10 range, but not as high as yours. I was told that this would not have a huge effect on my bg levels (although I think it has had some effect) since the application was topical, i.e. it just affects the area to which the steroids are applied and doesn't get into the rest of the body; this is in distinction to e.g. oral steroids, which spread throughout the body. I don't know what is implied by taking them using a nebuliser - did your doctor say?

Afraid I can't add anything as to how to sort this out except, as others have said, get in touch with either the doctor who prescribed them or your diabetic team.

Thanks for the replies I'm taking tablet form steroids and also com invent nebuliser so there's also steroids in the nebuliser I'm going back tomorow fingers crossed I feel terrible all day levels between 15.3 all day and 18.6 few minutes ago so I'm heading to bed not much chance of sleep wired to the moon from them but a person can hope thanks again for been so caring with the replies
