I was diagnosed with Type 2. Diabetes 2014 and have been on insulin since January 2016. Since then my blood sugars have been stable and I am very careful about how many carbs I eat.however for some reason my levels have been very high by my standards very high. 16.3 6pm today before evening meal, 9.3 before lunch, 8.7 fasting this morning, 13.0 yesterday before bed, 10.7 before evening meal, 7.6 before lunch (slightly above normal), 4.9 yesterday before breakfast (around normal)
It literally has both measurements above each other, 7.8 - 140I am sorry -this is American measurements and I do not know how to convert it to British so not at all helpful.
Hi gillytee
Are you confident about altering your insulin to match your carb intake? And making correction doses?
If not, then I suggest you contact your health team and ask for guidance, since those levels are higher than they should be.
What levels do you usually run at?
Any chance you have had an infection? Sometimes viruses and bugs play merry hell with our levels. Some posters report that the first sign they have of an incoming bout of cold or flu is when their blood glucose bumps up out of their normal range.
Medication can do it too, such as steroids. And then there is stress, and sleeplessness, and hidden carbs in food.
I would start with a call to your surgery to ask for advice on adjusting your insulin to cope with these new higher levels.
Hope that helps!
