I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago. Eating probably just over 300g of carbs a day, on a low fat diet and remaining slim (BMI of 19 to 20).
However, my blood sugar control was pretty dreadful so I decided to give the low carb approach a try. It helped to sort the blood glucose control out nicely so I've more-or-less stayed on the diet ever since.
I think I'm on less calories on the lower carb diet and have been 5 to 7 kg lighter since being on the lower carbs (BMI is now 18 to 19).
I've recently increased my carb intake a little from approx 60-80g a day to around 100-140g.
Being on a slightly higher carb count means I'm getting more fibre and I now rely slightly less on processed meats and canned soups than I was.
