I eat less than 20 a day and have been for years. Long before diabetes reared its ugly head. All of mine come from above ground veggies, a few nuts and avocado.
I do eat a high percentage of fat compared to protein or carb in a calorie sense. 80% fat but mostLy in avocado, nuts, mayo and olive oil. Olives too. I don't gob it but it is my energy source so I make sure to eat enough. I eat so,e avocado with all three meals as the fat and fiber help keep bs lower and slower.
You must have been starving being low carb AND low fat!!
Hi. You don't actually need any carbs as long as you have enough proteins, fats and fibrous veg and fruit. Many stay below 100g/day which implies low-carb. I aim for 150gm/day but on insulin. Anything above 200gm/day would be too much for most of us. I'm generalising so the meter is the measure. BTW avoid tropical fruit.
Protein is the hardest thing to burn as fuel. Protein is your ground wire and should remain fairly consistent. Then you get to choose a fuel source. Carbs or fat. As a diabetic we need to choose fat. You didn't have a fuel source. Time to get some fat into you! And to be clear IN THE ABSENSE OF CARBS FAT DOES NOT MAKE US FAT. This can be hard to wrap your head around.Hi kristin251
Thanks for the help. Actually I didn't feel much hunger. But I used to feel so cold all of the time. My family felt normal and I felt as though I was in a freezer.
I am a bit confused. You have already been on a "low fat and low carb diet". Shouldn't you be asking what HF means?
