Type 1 How much solo star??

I’m just interested to know how much solo star people take? I’m on 18units per day I wonder if I’m on the correct dose?? I’m 5ft tall, 7st 3lbs... on a good day! and 32 years young haha! Novo rapid obviously depending on what I eat.

Not been on Lantus for a long time now, but if I remember correctly in total it is was about 72 units......

This was partially down to my big build [16-17 stone] but thats not the only factor.....insulin resistance come in to play to......

Everyone is different and you establish the correct dose by testing the dose and adjusting it up or down depending on what result you see from the tests...

So no one can actually tell you whats right or wrong, only your own tests can.....

Have you done any tests of the Lantus...?
 
I agree with the above we are all different I am 77 about 5ft6 and 12 stone I normally take 12 units per day but yrs ago have been up to 28 units. my HbA1c was 6.1 In November and has hovered around that level for 18months so my units have not been changed medically but are adjusted by me xmas is an example 14-16 units
 
Will be 50 years old on Wednesday and I am 10 stone and 5 ft 7 inches tall.

I'm on 16 units of Lantus every night. Have been on that dosage for what seems like forever but it has worked for me for a long time.

More liberal with my Novorapid depending on what I decide to eat.

Breakfast 4 - 8 units, Lunch 6 - 10 units and Supper anything from 12 - 18 units. I have to be honest, I am not a calorie / carbohydrate counter, never have been. I bolus depending on what I am about to eat.

Highest HbA1c in the last 7 - 8 years 7.5 and lowest 6.1

I have been Type 1 for 37 years so experience plays a big part in how I manage my condition but the longer you have this the more you will find your own unique management style.

Finding out how much lantus other people are takin goes absolutely nowhere to telling you if you are on the right dosage of lantus.

Nor does your age or your weight really go towards whether your lantus is the correct dose. There are some average total daily doses by weight, but not being on the average dose doesn't mean you are on the wrong dose. The right dose is just whatever is right for you.

I have neuropathy. Pretty bad in my hands and digestive system but apart from that I'm doing ok. Mind you I never take this condition lightly despite being liberal with my dosage.

I just try to keep it as simple as possible. Lay off the sugar, keep active and take my meds. Thats the basics for me. After that you can finely tune it to your own lifestyle.
