Type 1 How often do you need to change bg moniters

This thread is seriously off topic now. The mods will be giving us grief soon.:):):)

I was wondering do you have to replace them every few years?
I paid for my first Accu-Chek Performa three years ago. I got a upgrade to the latest Performa model as a freebie from my pharmacy over a year ago.

As I wanted the software to download data from the meter, and not wanting to pay $100.00 for it from Accu-Chek. I got a free Abbot FreeStyle Lite and also free software for it.

How long before I replace the Abbot I do not know, but if something shiny appears I will think about replacing it.

What the heck. We're grown ups. Best thread on the site at the moment.
I met Lemmy from Motörhead in a nightclub back in the 80's. Fetched him drinks and change for the one arm bandit.
Being the only " greebo " in the nightclub made me number one fan . Even sorted a taxi for the great man .
Come on @Snapsy . Claim to fame?

I stood next to Quentin Tarrantino in a bar in Paris and keenly observed, "You're Quentin Tarrantino..." To which he replied, "Yeah, I am."

And then, to demonstrate my wit and insight, I replied, "Cool" and walked away.

Beat that

I think BG monitors are a very personal piece of kit. If you're happy, confident and comfortable with your meter then stick with it.
I've always used Abbots and for me they work fine, granted I've had upgrades over the years, but a bit like cars a Ferrari will always be a Ferrari and a Skoda will always be a Skoda, it's the same with BG monitors I find.

Dunno...I can't get my One Touch Verio above 5mph (and that's going downhill...with wind behind me)...
