Hi. 6 months will be fine and even a year might be OK unless your meter says otherwise. If you don't have a meter do get one and then you can re-assure yourself whenever you want. It's not the same as an Hba1C but will be a good indicator.
There is no point it being any more frequent than three months since it is an indication of your sugar levels over a three month period. Anyone who has good control needn't have the test more often than six months. One year is possible for people that are trustworthy. I am not one of them. I view my visit to DN as a great incentive to behave but when I am outside the DN minus three month period I fall off the wagon a bit.
If I only had a once yearly test there would be nine months of naughty and DN is not going to risk it.
Out of interest, how many three-monthly tests did you have?Mine was three months then six months,I have now been told I will be sent for so I dont know how long it will be.
Three.Out of interest, how many three-monthly tests did you have?
i had one 3 month test, then a six month test, then am having yearly tests
No problem. Sensible comment.Ally , that is bad management by your doctor. If I were you I would insist on one, and insist on staying at least 6 monthly. Your BS isn't stable and your meds need reviewing more frequently than 12 months at the moment.
