How often to check

Hi all,

I have started eating low-carb and doing more exercise for the past few days (1 week now).

I want to see if there are spikes when having different foods, minutes of exercise, quality of sleep.

I measure my fasting numbers every day and sometimes 2 hours after a meal (not every day)

My question is, Do I have to do more measurements per day?

The testing stripes , I have to pay myself, doesn't paid by the insurance ..So, wanted to check here for tips, if it is really necessary to read the meter often than I am doing at the moment.

Hi Nasula
I don’t know how long ago you were diagnosed but fasting numbers are the last ones to settle down, so if you want to keep your strip usage to a minimum and test how food is affecting you, can I suggest you test immediately before a meal and then two hours afterwards, you are looking for a rise of no more than 2 mmols/l. Once you have tested a certain meal a few times and the rise is acceptable you can regard that meal as safe for you. Leave testing fasting numbers til your numbers in general are more settled.
