How should I dose carbs from frozen fruit in water?

Question for everyone. So I have been taking frozen fruit and using it as a flavor and ice substitute for my water. I noticed some impact on my blood sugars but not a lot, but I would like to try to stay away from any type of spikes because of it. I know that some of the sugar and minerals in fruit, as well as vitamins, will seep into the water. Though the vitamins do break down after long periods of time.

So my question is if you were to drink this would you dose a small amount of the carbs that are in the frozen fruit mix or split the dose because I also eat the fruit when I'm done as well?

Hello again @CoreyCharman

To be honest, if I was eating the fruit after I would just dose for it all in one go.

But everyone is different and has to learn what works for them.

Some T1s can get away with small amounts of carb without dosing for it at all (not me though after 54 years T1).

But I am wondering if you are overly concerned with spikes? Even non diabetics have blood sugars that go up and down and spike after meals....

I would agree with EllieM that I think 1 dose would suffice for the entire thing (drink & eaten fruit).

I am one of those who can "get away" with small amounts of carbs in drinks, if I dose for them e.g. fruit smoothies I just drop to the floor

As above I don't think you should be overly concerned with a spike, spikes can and will happen and as long as within 2 hours you come back down into range a spike isn't necessarily a bad thing and something that should be avoided.

I would see what happens first without dosing, then next time experiment with dosing depending on my findings the first time, and finetune dosing and timing depending on results after that.

I'm never worried about spikes with new foods, they're simply a learning opportunity. Even more so with foods I have regularly, they're the foods to take notes to learn to perfectly dose for.

I eat lowish carb to minimise spikes and dosing misjudgements, but I love my high carb Belgian specialty beers so I'm good at dosing and timing for them now.
Practice makes perfect!
