An awful lot.
If l decide to have a snack of something and want to know how it affects me l know l would do my BG before l shovel the item in my mouth But
when would l take my BG afterwards at 2hrs

or a lot sooner

or would it depend on the item
and if so how soon say if l tried a general snack item....Dont want times for all just a general idea as l guess every thing varies based on the item is there a rough guide you use on type of item?

a biscuit or an orange or say a mars bar or a chocolate coverd biscuit or a banana or a piece of hot buttered toast or any other "l got the munchies want snack" type food
l added a mars bar in because l know it can whammy in quick.

You can test anytime you want to and as often as you want to if you want to learn things. The only "official" guidance that I am aware of is the NICE one where it says that at the two hour mark your blood sugar should be 8.5 or less. This, I presume, is considered a safe limit but I do not know how that figure was arrived at.

2 hours is normally the time.

I tended to test everything after two hours, and came up with a list of foods I was ok with.

I test randomly now, after 1/2 hour is supposed to be around the peak of most foods.
There is a peak even in healthy people.

I also compare to my non diabetic wife occasionally, (my kids refuse to be tested), you'd be surprised at some of the 7's I've had before 2 hours off her.
