I have just realised I am using an american site to get my carb values from....

Can anyone recommend a book with carb values for basic foods and ingredients, not just ready meals and pre-packed stuff, but for me to make food from scratch please?

I have got the one with all the photos on plates, the DiabetesUK one, but its no good for my own cooking.

I use the Collins Gem Carb Counter - distressingly it has a picture of a bikini on the front but otherwise it's good. RRP is £3.99

I've just ordered this book from Amazon -

Carbs and Cals and Protein And Fat - A Visual Guide ...

I looked through it online and I loved it on sight. It has very clear and simple text but also has pictures of plates with various amounts of food on them and it tells you how many grams of carbs, protein and fat is on the plate. To be honest it's just what I was looking for because I can take a look at a picture, make the meal in the quantity and see how I go. My head is puddled with counting and deciding what I want to count in the first place! :)

Just a quick bit of info on the "Carbs and Cals and Protein And Fat - A Visual Guide". This is available as an app on android and the iPhone. Handy to have on the go

You can also get some free downloads on their website (just google) They include the index which is useful to show the type of content before buying.
