hi, i dont know why but the thought of someone looking at my feet kinda makes me cringe, they are fine, nothing nasty there and as far as i know they dont smell it just seems a bit weird, anyway..... ive been getting this sensation under my toes in my right foot it kinda feels like im being bitten but someone who only has bottom teeth, its worse when i have bare feet and i basically limp about at home, there isnt any visible signs of anything there, i told my dn at my appointment and said as im newly diagnosed i may get symptons of something but as my blood sugars have come right down it will go away, as im silly and embarrassed i didnt want to push the conversation so i just accepted it, 2 weeks on it isnt getting better and i wondered do you think i should maybee call into the doctor? (assuming i can get an appointment which is almost impossible although they have a banner on the raillings saying they are accepting new patients pffft) or maybee someone here has had a similar feeling and its nothing to worry about? do i need to be refered to foot doctor or can i go somewhere on my own back? or nothing? :)
thanks
Andy

Make an appointment at the docs. Put your mind at rest.

Checking of feet and for sense of feeling is an essential part of a full diabetes MOT and we all get or should get these checks.

As Hobs says its part of the annual MOT, for me its done in the GP's surgery and your doctor should of made a referal. I make my own annual appointment and they send me a six monthly one as I am now on closer monitoring.

As you are already experiancing problems, either make an appointment with the doctor so you can get refered asap or see if you can book your own appointment for a diabetic foot screen. Some of the symptoms you can get are pins and needles to varying degrees, and the feeling that your feet are either hot or cold without any reason amongst others.

I have always had ingrowing toe nails which were painfull and one could draw blood when trying to cut them, at the foot screening they highlighted this and refered me hospital, a hour visit to day surgery and nails were permantly removed, no more pain and blood free. :)

Catch things early enough, and things can be treated or reduced, leave things unchecked they can only get worse.

I would certainly get your feet checked over, some gp surgery's have visiting Podiatrists so you may get seen by them sooner than your gp.

Have you had your annual MOT with the nurse yet, where they check your foot pulses (sometimes with an ultrasound thing) and test the sensation in your feet by tickling them with some thin wire? If not than you ought to book one because every diabetic on the books should have at least an annual check. Wouldn't have thought it terribly likely you were at risk of diabetic food problems given how quickly you've normalized your blood sugars but I suppose its always best to get checked out. But foot neuropathy tends to be a complication of longer term, less controlled diabetes.

Type 2 on Metformin, diagnosed Jan 2013, ultra low carber, Hba1C at diagnosis 8% (11mmol), now between 5 and 6 mmol. 13kg lost so far :)

No, no one has mentioned that, I'll ask the doctor or nurse whichever is first, I suspect doc with this weird backache :( thanks ms finzi the magnificent :)
