How to get rid of fat lump on abs area

Hello Guys, I am very glad I have joined Diabetes UK forum.
I'm posting about an issue and I wish somebody with expert knowledge would answer and give me an advice if possible.
I'm 58 years old, 71kg weight, 177cm height, type 1 diabetic since 2009, athletic body with regular sports and exercise, healthy diet and lifestyle, I have a small fat lump on my belly due to 15 years insulin injection, it's not big but I don't like it, how can I get rid of that? should I continue losing weight? do more abs exercises? my BMI is ideal and I feel I'm in my best shape ever , even better than prior diabetes, I would appreciate any comment and advice, have a lovely and healthy day for all.
Simon

I have some lipohypertrophy that I developed during my first pregnancy (and my son is now 33) which has persisted throughout the years, despite the fact that I haven't injected into it for years/decades. A previous GP suggested I could have it surgically removed, but I haven't bothered, since I don't think I would be able to use that area again even if I did have it removed, and I'm still 5kg above my ideal weight so it's not particularly obvious.

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing but if we are I'd suggest asking your GP?

Good luck, and if you get any helpful tips I'd be interested in hearing them.

Edited to add and welcome to the forums @LoonVan-2025

I'm not sure there is anything you can do except stop injecting into that area and it will fade over time - and it could take years, mine did, three or four and counting, but it has faded to the point the DSN can't feel it but I can.

I have 3. 1 large size of a tennis ball and 2 smaller ones. They dont go away, Ive been waiting 25+ years they just get larger as you lose weight. Surgery can remove them but the NHS wont do it. Type 1 for 54 years and in the early years injecting with 12mm needles caused my issues.

I have exactly the same as Sportie999 has just posted ,i'me now very slim at 11.5 stone and since coming down from 14 stone I can't help noticing these two lumps of fat hanging over my belt from my otherwise flat belly . I have asked a few Drs who always give the same answer you'll just have to live with it .

Hi
You have my sympathy.
Type 1 of 50 years here and only started injecting in my stomach when 4mm needles were introduced and still only inject small amounts to this day as the harpoons we used to use were too painful for my stomach!
I have small lumps in my legs left over from yesteryear but not noticable to anyone but me.

Tony
