How to tell if you've been mentioned

I've been mentioned by my username, @IanBish, several times, and I just notice them browsing. I haven't seen any notifications as such. So is there a way of telling if I've been mentioned (tagged) in a post?

You should get alerts, both for when your posts are replied to, and for when your name @IanBish is mentioned. See the bell on the top right of the screen...

But maybe check your preferences and when notifications are generated

Your account->preferences and then scroll down to where it says

Receive a notification when someone....​

Thanks. They were all set to "push notifications", which I don't get.
