Sooo I normally consider myself to be a well behaved and organised diabetic, today not so much!

Woke up at 6am 7.2 (happy with that). Had my two rounds of burgen bread / bacon and my normal morning bolus and toddled off to work (after checking I had my checker and Apidra with me - always do that, don;t want to forget things!!!).

Got to work and did a scan on my Libre, 11.2 hmm did a blood check 9.9 higher than I'd like so had half a unit correction (I'm on about one unit to 5 mmol correction when under 11) also noticed that I only have 2 tests left bother I'll have to rely on my libre a bit more today, I do have some strips to use with the libre reader though so no biggy.

Scanned again at 10am 14... Use the libre to do another blood check and I'm now 11.9 double bother better have another unit, go to dial it up and realise that there doesn't seem to be a lot of insulin left in the pen (sinking feeling starts) decide to dial up as much insulin s possible to see how much is left (4.5 units) triple bother ah well light lunch for me then, go to dial back the units and realise that I can't dial them back without wasting the insulin (this is before I've had my extra 1 unit correction). Sinking feeling realy kicking in now.

Now what to do, dial it back to 1 unit and have that (leaving me with no insulin for the rest of the day) oh no, much better idea, inject but only administer the one unit leaving me with some to spare, great. So I Do, only the plunger on the Junior Start is a bit sticky so.. end up injecting 2 units instead!

I have the feeling it's going to be a long old day!

Is there any way you can get home at lunchtime and back or leave early?

And also in the future, keep spare supplies at work.

But I'd go with the go home if you can option.

Nah it's more hassle than it's worth to go home, I couldn't get there and back in time anyway. Might re consider if I go high again but I'll just have a (very) low Carb lunch and go home a bit early.. I think they might be a bit funny about keeping medical stuff in the fridge here, someone might put it in their tea!

New Carry On film - 'Carry On Diabetic'

yesterday morning I didn't check my pen before going to work.......didn't have quite enough units to cover my normal lunch, a light lunch is just so unsatisfying!

If you've had 2u won't that drop you too low, so may be not quite such a light lunch then??

Might be quite funny that! (if a bit specialised and they'd probably get it wrong...)

Quite possibly, not really sure what sent me that high in the first place though so who knows! My libre is still saying 14 though so I'm going to see what I am before lunch. I'm thinking it would be better to keep an eye on it and have half a glucose tablet here and there to "top me up" my normal lunch is 29g carbs for which I have 7.5u so I've got nowhere near enough to cover it, even factoring in the extra I've had..

It could be funny, and yes you're probably right - they'd get something completely wrong, but the follow up film would be even funnier - Carry On Diabetic Doctor..................! Hattie Jacques as a T2 specialist Nurse..............!

Hope you figure out an easy path to making your day more 'FRIDAY'!

Can I be Matron ?!

Thanks goodness it's Friday Matt, and although it's one of those 'lessons to be learned' i'm sure you won't have this happen again ;)

Can I be Matron ?!

Sorry but there is only one Hattie J!! Anyone mentions 'Matron' whether its in relation to the carry on films or not, I'm sure I'm not alone in always picturing Hattie Jacques as matron :nurse:

You know what the most annoying thing is? I always check I have stuff with me, even at times stopping off on the way to work to check. I just didn;t check there was anything in the pen / checker doh!
