Hi everyone, been managing my T1 for about 2.5 years now and I've been getting into a spot of bother recently that I just wasn't having for the first two years of my diagnosis. Sky high BG, a general BG rollercoaster and issues with my mood/anger so I thought I needed a little more support and this looks to be the best place to be! I'm trialing a low carb diet to try to help with the above problems so I can get everything to level out.

Hopefully I can help out the other-way, I'm a decent cook so I'd like to share some recipes and things as I go. Anyway, hello!

Hi. Yes, do try the low-carb diet as it will certainly help with the blood sugar. Can you tell us a bit more about your insulin regime and whether you carb count.

Hi and welcome to the forum @Copacetic-Diabetic. Many of us on here have found that a Low Carbohydrate High Fat (LCHF) approach to eating has lowered our blood sugar levels. Have a read round the threads to see how it works and ask any questions you want to. The people on here are friendly and supportive.

I'm on 5 injections a day, basal dose split between morning and evening, 5 for each. As for the other 3 bolus, I carb count and try to adjust insulin accordingly, usually between 7-12 units a meal. I have a feeling that this is a diet issue as my regimen for injections and counting is quite strict, but the amount of insulin required to get on top of my total carb intake sends me into a serious hypo or alternatively stays alarmingly high. Hence why I'm trying to break out of the awful carb cycle.

Sounds like you have your work cut out CD, but I am sure you will get on top of this. Best of luck!
