Can I ask why you want to know? Are you thinking of doing a correction or making a change to your regime?

Hey.

Just wondering why Im told to have 50/50 am and 25/75 pm.

Assumed it was duration of action or one worked quicker...

The 50/50 is half basal and half quick acting. The 25/75 is 25% quick acting and 75% basal.

So the 50/50 has more fast acting in. Youre probably told to take that in the morning to deal with food through the day. The quick acting will work from 2hrs to 6hrs, the long lasting will be working for up to 12 hours.

As @catapillar says, it's just to give you the correct balance of basal and bolus at different times of the day :)

If you're not happy with having a premixed insulin like that, you could speak to your doctor or nurse and ask about other regimes. Just to add that on mixed insulin, a routine for meal times and carb content works best.
