Hyper after Lunch

I really enjoyed my lunch yesterday, fresh white rolls, ham, beetroot and pepper Humous with a nice piece of tiffin.
calculated my carbs and wrote everything in my digital diary.
My Libre scan was being very nice to me an hour after Lunch it started saying HI to me!
After a 2nd scan (HI); a Blood glucose (HI); and a ketone of 0.1. I started drinking more fluid and trying to figure out why I was Hyper.
The lovely muzzy head and High temp (both heat and mood!) are always side effect's I have the most distain for.

It took me until dinner to suddenly realise I had not given myself the Nova rapid at Lunch.
I don't have any Hi-tech gadgets for recognising this, I have I simple method with my needles in my Insulin kit-
I load 5 needles every morning into a little bag, this way I can keep a check that I've actually given myself Insulin, this only works when I look at the bag!!
So at Dinner the Needles left was 3no. a clear indication that I had missed my Lunch time dose!
If only I'd checked this when my Libre started greeting me with its 'Hi' message,

hope this little tail gave you amusement, as for me today in retrospect, I'm chuckling at myself 8-)

Highs and lows (for whatever reason) are always so much better when you know there is a solid reason behind them, and a cause that you can hopefully avoid in future.

Was prepared to give you lots of hugs and sympathy for the frustrations of blood sugars that fluctuate for no reason. Am so glad that you have sorted the reason and the issue in such a straight forward way. (And yes I've done the forgetting my insulin and even the giving the wrong insulin before now).

Been there and done that too many times :hilarious: Sometimes you can just get distracted and forget until your blood sugar starts screaming at you. I’m lucky with hybrid closed looping if my sugars start to rise it’ll give me insulin so if I ever forget a dose for food it does give me insulin and generally I rarely ever go above 20. It alerts me at 14 that I’m going high which then does make me realise oh **** I’ve forgot to give insulin for my food!

I recently received the same friendly greeting from my Libre. Happened overnight but fingerpricks were telling me I was in the 5s. I called Abbott who informed me it was likely due to the amount of bleeding I had experienced on insertion of that sensor the previous evening. They advised starting a new one; they replaced the friendly one.
