Had a very strange hypo at work the other day. On insulin twice a day (Novomix 30) BG on getting up in morning 0630 hrs was 11.7 not bad for me. Usual breakfast of hot oatmeal (known as oatmeal brose in Scotland)(also known as gruel). In managers office 0845 I collapsed unconcious for about 10 mins. In that time ambulance was called. I came round before ambulance arrived and one of the other workers who has a diabetic daughter gave me a tube of glucose boost also a hot very sweet tea to drink. The ambulance arrived and they took a blood glucose which was 4.7 and rising. The opinion was that my BG must have dropped below 3 when I passed out. Decided not to go to hospital. Contacted diabetic centre. I have been on insulin for two years and they seem to think that for some reason I absorbed the insulin faster than it should have done. The injection site was always below the belly button either on the left or right and never the same site or so I thought. Anyway now told to vary injection sites to upper thighs. What does surprise me is the fact that I came round on my own without any medical assistance
