I think I have asked this before but erm I have sciatica caused by a bulging disc and a new symptom that I get alot now is whenever I am hypo my leg hurts more than usual and I get pins and needles all the way down...is there any reason why this would affect me?!

Sorry if this makes no sense writing whilst trying to recover from a 2.2 lol ah the joys!!

I think one of the many and diverse symptoms of low blood sugar can be pins and needles, as I believe the heart rate will increase in the bodies attempt to alert you of its unhappiness at the lack of fuel..........

so its makes sense that a fairly straight forward bout of pins and needles could be worsened by your sciatica and the nerve issue you already have.....

that's my rudimentary scientific explanation though...........lol..............:)

I have had tingling and pins and needles during hypos in the past. I think when the body doesn't have enough fuel, it throws a tantrum in any of a huge number of ways, and a pre-existing problem is an easy target to exacerbate.

Your brain and nervous system are the two body systems that can't do without glucose, so you'd expect them to go a little haywire during a hypo ;)

Spot on Rob. You can also suffer from a condition called Referred Pain, this is when you experience pain elsewhere than the site of the injury or pain source, although why it would get worse during a hypo I'm not too sure.
