Had bad hypo yesterday bs was2.1 ,had bottle glucojuice and 100mls coke , ten minutes later bs still did not rise so had another glucojuice, think over did it, but an hour later bs was 7.4. But woke up with bad head like hangover this morning, could this still have anything to do with hypo?, also friend going on holiday soon and was wandering if it's ok to take glucojuice with them, and is it true that glucogel works quicker than glucojuice?

Hi @tawsy1 I too have experienced exactly the same, firstly do you know why you had a hypo ? It helps for future learning. I treat with either jelly babies or glucogel, some recommend orange juice for a quicker response, to be honest it depends on how quickly I am falling as to what the hypo treatment is, if falling fast I go with glucogel, if slow hypo then jelly babies. Follow up with carbs, and test every 10 mins, although easier said than done if feeling very poorly. After effects like this are rare but it sounds like you were dropping very quickly.

It sounds like you were dropping so its good you caught the hypo in time. Yes, headaches can occur after hypos. Before I had my pump, a bad hypi could give me a headache for 24hrs or more.

I find Lucozade or regular Coke works fastest for me. If I have a fierce hypo, only those stop the drop quickly.

When I go on holiday, I take lots of,packets of glucose tablets - small and easy to pack :)
