Hi I had a really quite bad Hypo yesterday. Was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes around 5 years ago and had never had one before. I take Metformin 3 times a day. Felt really unwell and wondered if it is an indication that I should now approach the Doctor for insulin?

Hi @Cassie513 , welcome to the forum.

Are you sure you had a hypo (low blood glucose), did you test with a fingerprick when you felt unwell?
It's not usual to get hypos on metformin only.

Do you know what your latest hba1c is?

Yep that's a hypo, but not by very much!
It could be a sugar crash or a false hypo, with your reading being skewed by something else.
I would regard it as a one off for now!
However if it persists, I would get more tests done.
Where you fasting for more than a few hours before you felt the symptoms?
How is your fasting reading?
Do you test around meals?
Is metformin the only meds you are taking?
Any other conditions than the T2?
What was your last hba1c levels?
Sorry about the questions, just trying to understand your hypo reading.
Best wishes.
It was 3.3 by the finger prick monitor
