Hi can anyone advise me?
I have weetabix, skimmed milk and sweetener for. Breakfast. This morning, for instance, I ate at 9.45am. I went shopping came home and felt really odd, ringing in ears, sweating, unsteady and uncoordinated. Blood glucose was 3,00
I take 1000mg metformin, 80g glicazide in the morning. In the evening I take 1000mg metformin, 160mg glicazide and 100mg sitagliptin. I am reducing my weight with Slimming World.
I think I'm taking too many drugs, does anyone have the same as me?

I'm on slimming world, have weetabix in the morning, and have hypos about 2 hours after breakfast............[pumping novorapid]

my lows are down to my 1.5 mile hike to the train station though..........:)

do you have hypos regularly.........? if so that would suggest you are on too much medications, either the dose or the number or pills......

i don't know what the glicazide is for though....

The Glic could be causing your hypos, If your losing weight you could need less, if it's a regular occurance go and talk to your DN/Doctor about reducing the dose

Thanks, I have an appointment with my DN on Monday.

I think the more I exercise (walking etc.) the quicker my blood glucose falls which is good on one hand but not the hypo bit. So far I've lost seven pounds with Slimming World!

lol, the exact amount I have lost..............

how are you finding it............a lot of the stuff is really good......a bit more preparation is needed but its really tasty.......

my fridge is full of fromage frais and fat free yogurt. got a lot of eggs too...

yes mine is the same. I've bought the cookery books, the All in One is a good book. I found the diet so easy (so far) and it seems like you can eat so much! I had bacon, eggs, mushrooms and baked beans and felt like I'd eaten too much. I lost 2.5lb that week!

I'm hoping I've lost well this week too. Keep up the good work!

Hi and welcome...for your appointment, are you keeping a BG diary and food list?
I would test before breakfast, before tea, before bed, and 2 hr after each meal for a few days to give the nurse a good idea of your levels

as novorapid said, if it's regular, you may need your meds reduced,
if you have reduced your intake of carb/food, you may have reduced your need for insulin stimulation from some of the glicazide/sitagliptin ...I would have more than weetabix for breakfast, I would have a protein and fat..eggs or sausages and see if that stabilises you a bit more

are you able to ring for advice from the Dr/nurse in the interim, .. if you are still going low, take more carbs and ring your dr again

My blood glucose monitor records the levels so I'll take it with me. The food diary is easy because I keep one for Slimming World. I could take my bloods more often but I'm sure they are around 5.5- 5.8
I think the diet and weight loss probably means I need to lessen the meds, I'll watch the results until Monday and it will give me a clearer picture..

Thanks for the helpful advice. All I need to do now is work out how to get over a hypo quickly!

1/2 can of real coke..or liquid glucose 15g jelly beans ...and then 1/2 a sandwich total about 30g carb
I think you will be better with bigger meals and more carbs for the week, sort your meds out and then get back into it :)

here is hypo info
