Hello guys,
I am a little bit freaking out. I am 27 years male. I think that I am fit my height is 183cm and my weight is 79kg. I am jogging four times a week. Also, when gyms were open I was attending a gym regularly. I would say that I am eating healthy. Of course, like everyone, I like to cheat sometimes, but generally, my diet is high protein and low fat. Furthermore, I drink alcohol only 1-5 times a year.
A few days ago I got a routine blood test, I am checking my blood yearly because my paternal grandmother had diabetes. This year, for the first time my fasting glucose level is above 5mmol/l. Normally, every time it was approximately 4,7mmol/l, but this year it is 5,3mmol/l. My doctor will be on vacation for a few weeks, so I cannot consult with her and I am freaking out right now. Should I be worried about this increase? Am I getting to a red zone? Sorry, if I am asking silly questions.

No such thing as a silly question.

Welcome to the forums.

It sounds as though you have a very healthy lifestyle and though your fasting blood sugar is higher than last year, it is still in normal, non diabetic range.

So although T2 diabetes is very strongly genetic, so I can see why you are doing annual checks, it's very unlikely that you are even pre diabetic yet, let alone diabetic.

Talk to your doctor if you are concerned, but try not to stress about it till then.

I wouldn't worry as those figures are very good. BTW rather than low-fat I would suggest low-carb instead and have fats if you want them.

Hello and welcome,

I echo @EllieM 's comments. I think you don't need to stress too much about them but keep having annual checks to ensure it doesn't keep going upwards.

Good luck and well done on being proactive.

Thank you for your responses. I am really afraid of diabetes. So, I lost my mind for a movement. I will try to keep my diet balanced and follow my numbers annually.
