I Ate An Entire Pizza And Nothing Happened?

I went to the hospital yesterday and slept there, because I felt strange and forceless. I don't know if that had to do with diabetes, my BS was ok. Maybe I just need to rest. Anyway they made many tests on me, and it turns out that only by dieting and using almost no insulin i brought my hba1c to 5.6% (it was 8.8). My c-peptide is still 1.0, remained stable in the last months. I am just very tired and weak, but maybe I just need to rest.
I am feeling like this sometimes I cannot keep my eyes open...oh what a waste of time in bed for the best part of the day.

What you are passing through looks like what I'm passing through now.
I was just recently diagnosed 2 months ago, I'm 36 years old.
My A1c when I was diagnosed was 9% and anti GAD was positive. Also cholesterol, LDL &HDL was high which is surprising as I'm only 56 Kg/ 178CM.
Now I have a lot of hypo specially at night I'mnon basal bolus insulin 8ubasal and between 2 &3 u bolus before meal.
And still getting hypo very often some times I go up to 10 mmol after a meal but it goes down very quickly after around 2 or 3 hours only few cases I go up to 12 mmol but again goes down very quickly.
I hardly sleep at night now as I tend to go low specially by around 4 am although usually I take a late night snack (1 slice toast with cheese and half cup of low fat milk).
This drives me crazy as I don't understand the pattern.
Sorry for the long post.

Hello
I have similar story like yours.Last year in december i have all symptoms diabetes but ignored them for about 15 days and i felt into diabetic ketoacidosis and emergency hospitalized for 10 days.i lost about 20 kg.gad positive 105 titers and ia-2 1286 titers, fasting c peptid 336 pmol or 1 ng/ml, reference value 150-1100 pmol.i was taking insulin about one month 3 times a day and having a lot hypos.i decided to off insulin and whaching my blod sugar.i am still off insulin having great sugars.fasting 5,after lot off carbs one hour 6,7,8,after two hour 5.nobody in my family having diabetes.i excerising a lot and eat everything but only dont drink juices vith a lot off sugar and hba1c last time was 6.5.
I have focused in my excerise to return my body mass but mostly in muscles.eat a lot proteins.muscles incredible reduce blood sugars i have noticed on my self during this year.also i drive long bicycle rides.
I would sugest u to try excerise with weights and runing or cycling.u will se from day to day betther sugar reading.i know how u are felling.
I was in depresion in begining but now i throw away black minds and i am feeling great thanks to God.

Hello everyone. Since I discovered I'm diabetic I started eating very controlled avoiding carbs, and my BS has improved very much. I actually don't use any insulin. Sometimes I eat carbs but I noticed that my values don't go too high. Yesterday I ate an entire Pizza and my freestyle libre stayed on 80 mg/dl. Nothing happened. I thought my BS would go up in the sky. Even today I ate meat with potatoes and nothing happened, stable on 80 mg/dl. Remission maybe? Is that possible?

have you considered if you were in ketosis or not? I find my readings behave very differently with the same meals depending on whether I am in a state of ketosis or it keeps the numbers down.

maybe you need to reduce your basal and the bolus amount, asap, aiming to keep good control without hypos? Re the chol, higher HbA1c raises Chol etc., as far as i understand. Re Total insulin, Adult Type One - my doctor does not agree with the term LADA, saying all are type one, just some slow or very slow onset - can be very different from that of children, i had lots of symptoms and was not well for years, but was not diagnosed, then was in a coma, but only needed total 15 unit daily afterwards, 57 kg. Re control, there never was a clear pattern, if i raised carbs a tiny bit the needed insulin could go to as high as 25 units, even 30 or more, with uneven control, and hypos, and any weight gain threw things out completely. What works for one person may not for another, but i find that keeping insulin amounts down is best - now if i stay on about 100-140 carbs, 120 carbs average, i improve control , on 17 or so units daily. Now 40 years on insulin, 60kg, less insulin = less hypos, these were a problem for years. I focus on keeping as good control as possible with as little insulin as possible, and work the carbs round that, accepting they may change quite a lot daily. Best wishes...
