We have worked out that hubby can also eat half a scone as long as he is doing something, the other day we shared one and then he went back out to the garden and was digging and such and his reading afterward was good.
He seems to be one of the fortunate ones that exercise will bring it down.
We did a long cycle ride the other day (65 miles) and we had large bowl of porridge before we left, shared a bacon roll about 3 hours later, had a Brie/Cranberry/Grape M&S sandwich between us, mini pork pie and some fruit. Throughout the ride we snacked on an American fruit and nut mix that also has M&M's in. He did a couple of readings en route and was 5's or low 6's. We did it as a trial as we are taking part in a charity cycle ride in Texas in a month and we will have to eat what is provided on the ride.
Last night we had sausages, tiny bit of mash (about a tablespoon full) and veg. Because of the mash I made him do a 1.5 mile walk after dinner and he was OK with his reading.
Hopefully the exercise will continue to keep his levels down
