Hi Jeenie,
Your right about the bread I always restrict myself to one slice. Have a look at the link this may help you with the testing issues.

I always test two hours after end of the meal.
I wonder if the fat content of your meal slowed up absorption and that is why your BG was up later.

Hi again Jeenie,
Things affect us differently its not easy, I found out the hard way with porridge,my readings after 2 and 3 hrs were in the fives, then after a bit of research I decided to test after 1hr and got BG readings between 10 and 11 which to me are far to high. Your doing right by testing only you can decide what works for you.

Rgards Graham

Ps watch out for Eddie He's not cool He's red hot

my last test tonight 6. 2 2 hours after start of meal no different from 1hr test

Sorry Jeenie I can't help you, if it was me I would expect a reading in the 5s 2hrs after eating what you have, there may be other factors involved maybe one of the forum experts will come up with the answer.

Take care
Graham

Time of the month?

Minor infection?

Phase of the moon?

The number you first thought of?

Sometimes things just become unpredictable for no apparent reason

still don't get it

I am really struggling with coping, with this diabetes, i am testing f/t , and 1 hour then 2hours after meals , these are my results today
f/t 6.7 1hr a/b 6.3 2hrs a/b 5.6 not bad, 2 scrambled eggs, with butter and cream

1hr a/l 8.4 2hrs a/l 7.0 ( dancing for 4hrs)( snack lunch, during dancing )
h/full nuts, 5 ginger oat biscuits , a small pc sponge b/day cake, OK, prob the cake

1hr a/em 6.3 2hrs a/em 7.8 BUT, Whats this!!
had grilled steak, steamed kale, roasted, onion, peppers, courgettes, mushrooms, followed by s/f jelly and blackberries in jelly, d /cream
had a mug h/water & lemon slc/ 2 mugs blk coffees/ 2cups blk teas/ 1pint water/ a 125ml glass red wine

Check the carb content of your ginger oat biscuits as well Jeenie!
Also check what is actually in the 'sugar free jelly' has it got hidden sugars, anything ending in 'ose' or 'ole' is also a sugar!!

Hi jeenie,
I agree with Sue about the the ginger oat biscuits, nairns oatcakes are 4.1g carbs each should think the biscuits are around the same.

Regards Graham

Hi Graham those are the ones i have , i was having them for my lunch, with the nuts, i never know what to take with me on mondays, apart from perhaps some cheese and olives when we go dancing, we are out for 11-30am and dont get home until 5pm, later if we eat our main meal out, i choose the biscuits because i think i am burning the carbs of with the dancing huh
