Alcohol in terms of dry, red wines and spirits should lower sugar levels. Can't see much wrong with drinking these. Remember those low bg levels after a bender and ravenously hungry, it's all down to low blood sugar. I knock a bottle of wine back a night and since I've cut the carbs don't suffer hangovers. I'm not suggesting that drinking to excess is a good thing, but I wish the diabetic nurses would not bracket alcohol with carbohydrates, they are not the same thing. My diet is sparse but healthy. If I cannot give up the alcohol - what can I do?

If you cannot give up drinking I suppose you will drink until you die from it. It happens quite often, particularly with diabetics. My diet is sparse but healthy. If I cannot give up the alcohol - what can I do?
Great post Andy.this breaks my heart, my diabetic dad killed himself with alcohol, nothing anyone could have said would have helped him stop, if he could turn back time and stop drinking, would he? i dunno, my mum is terribly lonely without him, i dont believe in an afterlife but if im wrong and hes watching her suffer, i reckon he would have regrets, do your best
best of luck
