I feel much better!

Dear all

I've been following Viv's diet system for a couple of weeks now and, having got my BG meter, now regularly check my BG levels.

What I have noticed is that I generally feel much better: no tiredness or bloating; sleep really well and wake refreshed; the dry mouth has gone and my mood has improved.

I'm intrigued, as clearly a reduction in carbohydrates and BG levels and the removal of wheat products has made a massive difference.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Hi Dave

I always feel better on a low carb diet too. Went for my first checkup a couple of days ago after being diagnosed 4 months ago and my readings had really improved and nurse was very happy. Did tell her was doing atkins style diet and she was fine with that. Definitely helped by bg's overall. Refused to go on medication when first diagnosed and no mention at all this time so was really happy.

Do whats best for you because its your diabetes. Its for you to control - dont let the diabetes control you. You're doing great and dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

A lot of people report feeling better, sleeping better and having more energy on a low-carb diet.

Anecdotal evidence, of course! I'm glad it's working for you :D

Hi, Isn't it just amazing how a little change to your diet can make you feel and look so much better! I was just a carbo nutter, but limited my fats to a minimum because I also have gall stones and have had for 20 years! I am not overweight and considered myself to be a healthy eater, I realise now that I consumed far more than I should have of what I considered to be 'good' foods quantity wise. I have a little query though, when it comes to low carbing..... I try to have no more than 100-120 carbs a day, sometimes I have less, but what I want to know is as long as I count and allow for everything I have does it matter what I actually eat, say for instance if I just want fruit for lunch, or say digestive biscuits with stilton can I have them as long as the carbs are accounted for in my daily allowance, or if I only have say 16g of carbs for lunch can I have more rice or pasta or spuds with dinner, or if I have no carbs with dinner, say I have chicken and salad, can I make my carbs up with a dessert, I am still vey confused about it all, so if anyone can answer me I would be very grateful. :?

100% agree, cutting out carbs has completely turned me and my health around, and like you I buzz with loads of energy all the time, yet sleep deeper and sounder and wake refreshed and like tigger bouncing ready to start the day. Amazing what a change of diet can doe isn't it? :D
