I have a cough - will this affect my blood sugar?

I've developed a bit of a cough, my first slight illness since being diagnosed as T2.

Will this affect my blood sugar? If so, any tips on how to be ill as a diabetic? I feel fine - just got a cough and a bit of a runny nose, symptoms I wouldn't have taken much notice of a month ago...

Having a cold or sniffles can raise the BG a bit, but nothing you need to do about it as such. Just be careful about any cough meds you may take. Most are packed with glucose or similar. You can get no added sugar cough linctus, "Robitussin" do one you can get over the counter. Be careful with lemsip type things. Powders often have added sugar whilst capsules don't. Read the packet.
