Thanks for such a great forum btw ..

Basically about 2 years ago I started getting very tired after eating carby meals and just thought it was digestive issues as I had H pylori infection ...then suddenly a few months ago my eyesight was suddenly went blurrier and felt like a migraine without the aura and I was getting pain around me eyebrow nearly everyday (hopefully not retinopathy) . Then last week I started getting numbness and pins and needles in my feet and hands and felt cold and couldn’t get warm which then prompted me to research and then I used a blood prick tester from Amazon and low and behold my result before food was 5.6 and 10.1 after 2 hours , I was shocked

Now I’m scared to eat and missing those carbs , So give me the good news guys

Hi @SUPAMARIO and welcome to our forum.
First of all, I have been diagnosed with helicobactor pylori about fifteen years ago.
What did you have for those readings for that meal?
It's good that you have recognised that carbs are the issue.
What tests have you had to diagnosed as prediabetic?
Where they after a fasting test of a non fasting test for a blood panel including hba1c test?

Regardless of those questions, you can get control by a change in your eating habits and lifestyle changes.
But it depends on you.
Conditions under the diabetes umbrella are so individual, we can only guide you and suggest things from our successful experience.

Have you had the anti biotic to get rid of the Helicobactor pylori?
It worked for me!

Best wishes

If you are officially pre-diabetic then cutting carbs gently should make a big difference at this stage, but you need to talk with your GP as we cannot diagnose anyone in the forum.

First step as you have concerns is to go see your dr and get a proper test done.

Whilst those finger prick numbers might look higher than perfect example after food it could very much be effected by what you ate. And it’s a one off test, hardly diagnostic.

Don’t be afraid to eat. Go ahead and cut out the obvious sugary rubbish as it does no one any good and be a bit more aware of the starchy carbs (no one needs ridiculous amounts and choose to eat the real food versions other than processed ones) but until you know what sort of levels you actually have over time then it’s all guess work.

Get the test (hba1c) and the the result in numbers - not a worded opinion- and come back here if it’s not great.

Thanks for your reply ,

I ate a yummy Vesta beef curry with white rice , can of sprite , then I had Kellogg’s granola about 8 hours later and again the same reading of 10. Regarding H pylori I was diagnosed 5 years ago and treated it but it came back 4 years ago and I’ve been managing it since naturally with mastic gum and DGL liquorice, probiotics but I think it’s still there . I think the H pylori infection contributed to this new problem as it effects the digestive system and causes systemic inflammation which has more than likely effected my pancreas .

I will visit the doctor tomorrow And discuss all this as I need to get rid of this H pylori infection and hopefully if i eradicate the bacteria my panaceas will function normally again .

thanks Mario

Hi ,

Yes I agree about the prick test , I will visit my doctors tommorow and get proper testing but in the meantime manage my carb intake as I’m scared to eat processed sugars now as I felt pretty awful .It’s time for me to eat sensibly again (sugar is evil ) and I’m glad that our wonderful bodies warn us ..

Thanks Mario

sure will , thanks

Just an update , I ate egg on one white piece of toast , half packet of crisps , 4 pieces of chocolate.. My reading upon waking was 5.4 and 2 hours later 6.8. The high spikes are due to white rice , white bread from past high spikes.

since the high spikes I still feel light headed and clumsy it’s a weird feeling , in time I guess it will go away plus my vision is much clearer and brighter now

Hi again @SUPAMARIO,

I hope your visit to doctors is productive.

I want you to be aware of the so called healthy food for those like yourself who may have issues with sugars and more importantly carbs. And that it is not only white bread, white rice, and so on. It is all carbs and sugar that produce the high spikes that are the culprits, for the causation of prediabetes and T2..

However, it is dependent upon how intolerant you are. Which means, how your body copes with carbs. The severe the spike, the symptoms and the potential for further ill health.

When you get those dizzy symptoms, have you done a finger prick test?
